Lighting the Hudson River waterfront after dark.

Hudson RiverWalk Park at Tarrytown is part of the 51.5-mile Hudson RiverWalk connecting communities and public spaces along the Hudson River in Westchester County. Our lighting design for the Tarrytown section supports the many ways people experience the waterfront, from walking and cycling to gathering and enjoying views across the river.

A Clear Path Through the Landscape

Working with the landscape architect, we developed a layered lighting approach for pedestrian and bicycle paths throughout the park. Bollards provide low-level illumination along the trail, while marine-inspired pole lights establish the primary pedestrian routes and reinforce the waterfront character of the site.

Places to Pause Along the Way

Entrance plazas, seating areas, and event spaces use low-to-the-ground lighting to create a more intimate scale. The different fixture types provide light that is appropriate for each part of the park while maintaining the landscape and Hudson River as the focus of the nighttime experience.

Lighting Ways People Use the Park

Bollards, pedestrian-scale pole lights, and low-level fixtures create distinct layers of illumination for paths, plazas, and places to pause. Each responds to the scale and use of the space while maintaining the landscape and waterfront as the focus after dark.
